The Anchorage School District has announced that schools are closed Wednesday, September 5 due to the Alaska windstorm that has caused power outages throughout Anchorage.

UAA campuses Eagle River-Chugiak & military campuses were also closed due to the power outages.

Alaska Pacific University and Grace Christian School has also closed due to weather outages.

ASD said all activities, sports and open house events were also canceled.

The Charter College in Anchorage announced that morning classes have been closed and afternoon and evening sessions are still scheduled.

The Charter College in the Mat-Su Valley said its campus is open Wednesday.

The Mat-Su School District said school was scheduled as usual. "Weather extremes require caution," said Superintendent Dr. Deena M. Paramo "and we appreciate parents' cooperation on days like today. We expect that our students will have a full day of academic learning."
