Anchorage police have released additional details on a Thursday hit-and-run crash that left a 26-year-old local man critically injured, including a revised description of the vehicle that struck him.
APD says Zachary Mohs was struck by a red Pontiac Fiero sports car just before 8:15 p.m. Thursday, when he was crossing Arctic Boulevard headed west at Arctic's intersection with 45th Avenue.
APD spokesperson Marlene Lammers says Mohs lost one foot at the ankle and is in critical condition Friday.
APD's Major Collision Investigative Unit investigated the scene, closing the intersection of Arctic Boulevard and Tudor Road for nearly three hours.
Lammers says the Fiero that hit Mohs, which was produced from 1984 to 1988, suffered damage to one or both headlights. Police ask anyone with information call 786-8900 or to remain anonymous, call CrimeStoppers at 561-7867.
