On Saturday, about 100 people strapped on their running shoes in Midtown to participate in the second annual MDA Muscle Walk.

A series of local walk events were held across the country to pay tribute and raise funds for children and adults served by the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Organizers of the walk say they raised more than $6,200 at the event.

Anchorage area residents found another reason to take to the streets on Sat.  In honor of Autism Awareness Month, community members gathered at Clark Middle School to complete the fourth annual Alaska Walk for Autism.

Event organizers say the goal of the event was to raise awareness about the disease.
