The Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program at the University of Alaska Anchorage will receive more than a million dollars from the National Science Foundation.
ANSEP was notified this week it is the recipient of the $1.25 million grant.
The program helps students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
There are one thousand students and alumni in ANSEP.
The new funding will help students in their undergraduate education by working on the transition between high school and college and undergraduate to graduate school.
ANSEP officials say they have developed partnerships with 130 organizations that provide funding and internships for students at every level.
ANSEP first received funding in 2001 and was started in 1995 with a single student.
