Update: An Anchorage police officer was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries Friday morning after another driver lost control and hit the officer's vehicle, according to the Anchorage Police Department.

APD spokesperson Dani Myren said that Officer Nelson Price was responding to another vehicle crash reported near Seward Highway and Dowling Road around 8:30 a.m. Friday.

Officer Price was traveling westbound on O'Malley with lights and sirens. Police said that traffic in the eastbound lanes slowed and yielded, however a white Ford Expedition lost control and slid sideways and directly into Officer Price's path.
