A former Alaska state commissioner has died.
The office of Gov. Sean Parnell says William C. Noll died Monday at the age of 72. Parnell says Noll will be remembered "as a dedicated public servant who devoted decades of his life to Alaska."
Noll was the commissioner of the Department of Commerce and Economic Development from March 2005 through January 2007.
He also was deputy commissioner of Economic Development and International Trade during the second administration of former Gov. Wally Hickel.
The governor's office says Noll was a former Seward mayor as well as the founding president -- and for 13 years a board member -- of the Alaska SeaLife Center.
