Children's book author Jean Rogers of Juneau died Wednesday at the age of 93.
Rogers wrote "Goodbye My Island" and "King Island Christmas," a pair of children's books illustrated by Rie Muñoz.
"King Island Christmas" was adapted into a musical composition.
Jean Clark Rogers was born in Idaho and moved to Alaska in January 1945 with her husband, George Rogers, an Alaska economist.
George Rogers died in 2010.
The Juneau Empire (http://bit.ly/136HE3V) reports Jean Rogers was also known for intricate cut-paper collages.
She was a strong advocate for reading and writing in schools.
She was a board member of the Alaska Public Offices Commission and the Public Broadcasting Commission and supported performing arts and nonprofit organizations.
