The city is working on its historic preservation plan for Anchorage’s four original neighborhoods: Government Hill, Downtown, South Addition and Fairview.
More than 800 comments have already been given to the city.
“They love their alleys, they like the setback their yards have, the landscaping, they like the whole look and feel that you can actually walk down the streets to the Park Strip or the trail system,” said Kristine Bunnell, a senior planner for the Municipality of Anchorage. “They want to preserve that look and feel of their neighborhoods.”
Comments generated will help draft the historic preservation plan, which is due in December. That plan will go to the city's Planning and Zoning Commission, and then the Anchorage Assembly.
The city is having public comment meetings this month:
Tuesday, Feb. 21:
Free parking is available behind City Hall.
Free parking is available in the school parking lot.
Wednesday, Feb. 22:
Free parking is available in the school parking lot.
