Update (6:38 p.m.): AST spokeswoman Megan Peters said an elderly female and male pair was involved in the crash. The crash was fatal, the female died.
The names of the individuals will not be released until next of kin has been notified.
The Seward Highway was closed for about four hours.
An elderly couple was flown to an Anchorage hospital for medical treatment after being injured in a crash at mile 39 of the Seward Highway. Alaska State Trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters said it happened at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, when the couple lost control of their F-150 truck, and drove it off the road, hitting a guardrail.
Peters said the highway closed for some time. The names and extent of the injuries of the driver and passenger have not been released.
