A joint effort by the Anchorage Police Department and the FBI has arrested 23 people for prostitution as part of a national crackdown. Last week, APD vice units participated in the three-day Operation Cross-Country.

Detectives served three search warrants on suspected houses of prostitution and massage parlors, including Tropic Massage in Midtown, Tao Massage in South Anchorage and Best Chinese Massage in Muldoon.

Detectives made numerous arrests for both solicitation and practice of prostitution, and thousands of dollars in cash were also seized at the locations.

Anchorage was one of 40 cities involved in the operation, which led to the arrests of almost 900 people nationwide.
