An Eagle River woman has more than a million reasons to smile. Linda Fleury went to Vegas for a business trip last week, and on her down time she thought she’d try her luck.

Turns out, Wednesday was her lucky day when she turned $20 into more than $1 million at the Hard Rock Casino on the Wheel of Fortune slot machine.

“When she told me, she was so excited that she couldn’t get her words out,” said her husband Al Fleury. Linda had called Al to tell him about the win.

The good fortune comes after a hard past few years for the Fleury family. Al and Linda lost their grandson, 23-year-old Corporal Gregory Fleury, in 2009 while he was serving in Afghanistan.

Sunday afternoon, Al’s face had a big smile.

“She couldn’t sleep that night and neither could I,” laughed Al Fleury.

Al said he had a dream before Linda left on her business trip. He told her about his dream that she won a million dollar jackpot.

“She says, well I believe you. Your dreams come true, and when I put her on a plane for Vegas that night, I told her to think about that,” said Al Fleury. “And that’s the only reason she played the progressive slot machine because of the dream. Otherwise she wouldn’t play the odds. One in 50 million.”
