ANCHORAGE, Alaska—
Students at Fairview Elementary were able to return to their classrooms Monday after an effort to exterminate bed bugs that were found inside the school. This weekend, crews turned up the heat at Fairview Elementary to kill the bed bugs after several students had the bugs or bite marks on them.
The temperature was raised in the classrooms to 135 degrees for five hours.
Heat sensitive items like computers and live plants were removed before hand.
ASD says parents should still check their children for bed bugs and little red bites to make sure the bugs are not brought back in to the school.
