The attorney for a former Juneau police lieutenant charged with attempted murder says the case should be dismissed.

A motion filed by defense attorney Julie Willoughby says the grand jury that indicted 45-year-old Troy Wilson was not properly instructed.

She says grand jurors were not informed of the standard proof that must be reached for indictment.

The Juneau Empire reports the grand jury in April indicted Wilson on six counts of attempted murder plus felony assault and weapons misconduct.

Investigators say Wilson barricaded himself in his home April 7 and fired 75 to 100 shots at responding officers before surrendering.
