A 54-year-old former Sitka middle school principal has been charged with six counts of sexual assault.

Joseph R. Robidou also has been charged with five misdemeanors, including four counts of indecent exposure.

The Daily Sitka Sentinel reports Robidou was arraigned Friday and released on $7,500 bail. He pleaded not guilty and trial was set for April 11.

Attempts by The Associated Press to reach Robidou on Wednesday were not immediately successful.

The felony charges stem from allegations of unwanted sexual contact from three women who worked with Robidou at Blatchley Middle School. He was principal there for four years but moved to a district business manager position in January. He resigned effective March 1.

He had been employed by the Sitka School District since 1990.
