Less than an hour away from Anchorage, the annual Girdwood Forest Fair celebrates 37 years from July 6 to July 8 with hand-made crafts, foods, entertainers, and Alaska businesses.

For the past years, the fair fell with July 4th celebrations, but since this year’s holiday occurred on a weekday, the event was pushed back a few days.

The Forest Fair parade will be held on Saturday, July 7 at 10:00 a.m. and it will close the Alyeska Highway at Hightower Road for about an hour. This year’s theme is “With Bells On” and the Grand Marshall will be Jim Veatch.

The Fairgrounds are located at Mile 2.2 on the Alyeska Highway and limited parking is also available at the Alyeska Resort with shuttle service.
