The man accused of killing two Hoonah police officers has pleaded not guilty through his attorney. Juneau Superior Court Judge Patricia Collins set a tentative trial date of Dec. 6 for John Marvin, charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the Aug. 28 shooting deaths of Matthew Tokuoka and Anthony Wallace.

Public defender Eric Hedland represented Marvin at arraignment Monday and asked for a jury trial.

Collins maintained Marvin's bail at $1 million.

Hedland told the Juneau Empire he probably will not comment to the press throughout the proceedings. Judge Collins set a hearing for Oct. 12 to determine pretrial deadlines and the status of the case.

Marvin also faces two counts of weapons misconduct.
