Former Republican U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller has formed a new political action committee and a tax-exempt organization to educate about public policy issues.

Miller on Thursday said he was forming the Restoring Liberty Alaska PAC and the Restoring Liberty Action Committee.

He says in a statement that the Alaska PAC is intended to support and elect candidates for local and state offices who are "dedicated to the principles of limited government."

The Restoring Liberty Action Committee is intended to educate the public on the principles of "constitutionally limited government," focusing on issues like tax and revenue policy, healthcare reform and "the timeless rights granted by our Creator."

Miller upset U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the GOP primary last August. Murkowski mounted a write-in campaign and beat Miller in the general election.
