A Ketchikan city council member and former mayor was arrested for child pornography last Friday.
Jack Shay is charged with 10 counts of possessing child pornography, he was arraigned on Saturday morning.
According to Deputy Police Chief Josh Dossett a local computer repair shop alerted authorities to the images on Shay's computer.
"The tech hooked up the printer, both Mr. Shay's, printer to the laptop computer and when he turned on the machine it started printing out images of child porn," Dossett said.
Officers obtained a search warrant for the computer and Shay's home. According to Dossett, detectives discovered several printed images of child pornography at Shay's home. He was arrested a short time later.
"Quite a bit of it is actually printed out," Dossett said. "Child porn can be placed on other things, so we have to seize all those kinds of media and bring them back to the station."
Shay's bail was set at $30,000, he is currently out on bail.
