Unified Command confirmed Thursday, January 10, that two remotely-operated vehicle (ROV) surveys were completed of the Kulluk drilling vessel in Kiliuda Bay.
The first survey was of the Kulluk's anchor and chain. It revealed that the anchor is firmly embedded and the chain was buried near the anchor. The second survey began an assessment of the Kulluk's hull.
Further investigation of the four dislodged survival boats and the single dislodged rescue boat revealed that the possiblity for approximately 316 gallons of ultra low-sulfur diesel fuel to be released exists, but there has not been any confirmation of a release to date.
