ANCHORAGE, Alaska—
No one was injured when two small planes collided in midair in a mountain pass. The Anchorage Daily News says the mishap occurred Sunday afternoon in Lake Clark Pass. Both pilots managed to land their planes safely in Anchorage.
National Transportation Safety Board investigator Larry Lewis says it appears the planes were heading toward each other in the mountain pass, and neither pilot saw the other plane until just prior to impact.
One of the planes was carrying nine people, the other four.
Lewis says the planes sustained minimal damage but were able to keep flying.
The NTSB and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
