A light earthquake has rattled a handful of central Alaska communities.

The shaking started Wednesday morning, just after midnight, about 40 miles from Talkeetna. It could be felt as far away as Anchorage, which is about 100 miles south.

The quake was a 4.8 magnitude according to the Alaska Earthquake Information Center.

Other communities that reported shaking to the state information center included Wasilla, Minto, Palmer and Girdwood.

There were no immediate reports of damage.
