The local radio station, KMVN, also known as Movin' 105.7, is collecting cards and letters to send to Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut as part of their "MOVIN Stamps to Sandy" program.

Until December 28th, individuals will be able to drop off their warm words and thoughts to honor the victims from the tragic shooting and to show support for the Newtown community.

Items will be collected at 4700 Business Park Boulevard, Building E, Suite 44 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Program director and radio DJ, Danny Ryan, says that he wants the people of Newtown to know that Alaska cares, even if the state is more than 4,000 miles away.

"We just want them to know that in Alaska, they're in our hearts and our prayers - the parents, the staff, the children - and that we're there for them," said Ryan. "No matter how far away you are, Alaska is on the map and we have big hearts like the big state we have here."
