The newest exhibit at the Anchorage Museum is ready for visitors and features the ancient cousins of elephants.

"Mammoths and Mastodons: Titans of the Ice Age," took the Field Museum in Chicago nearly three years to develop and almost a month to travel to Alaska.

More than a dozen hands-on exhibits give visitors a better understanding of the animals’ lives, relationships and behavior.

Professor Daniel Fisher, the exhibit's guest curator and faculty at the University of Michigan, says he hopes to inform people about the new discoveries involving mammoths and mastodons and about how climate change affects them.

The exhibit will visit 10 cities over the next four years, including two in Great Britain.

Tickets are $24 for adults and $17 for children 3 - 12 and includes general museum admission.
