The newest member of the Alaska State Board of Education and Early Development has been sworn in.

State education officials say Sue Hull of Fairbanks was sworn in by Gov. Sean Parnell at the board's meeting in Juneau Thursday.

Parnell appointed Hull to replace Geri Benshoof, whose term expired.

Officials say Hull's term is effective until March 1, 2018.

Hull, who served on the state board between 1982 and 1987, is current president of the Association of Alaska School Boards. Officials say Hull also is a past president of the Alaska PTA.
