FAIRBANKS, Alaska—
A miner has discovered an all-terrain vehicle that had been ridden by a man missing for 11 months. The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner (http://bit.ly/Q3EDqD) reports 53-year-old Gerald De Berry was part of a search party looking for a missing woman last October near Mile 70 Steese Highway.
The woman was found but De Barry disappeared.
Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters says a miner walking on Labor Day discovered the ATV near Faith Creek Mine at Mile 69 of the Steese Highway,
She says the four-wheeler was stuck in the tundra at an angle that indicates gasoline was not being taken in and that the machine may have stalled. The ATV had been turned off.
Two troopers and five volunteers searched the area but found no other sign of De Berry.
