GLACIER BAY, Alaska—Three separate vessels responded to a cruise ship that was taking on water in Glacier Bay on Sunday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard, the National Park Service and the Holland America cruise ship Volendam came to the aid of the 79-foot sightseeing vessel Baranof Winds after it ran into a rock and began taking on water.
The Baranof Winds reported to the Coast Guard that it deployed its anchor for stabilization and that the flooding had been contained this afternoon. They reported no pollution.
Coast Guard Sector Juneau is investigating the cause of the grounding and will organize a towing for the vessel by Allen Marine back to Sitka.
The Volendam crew will transport the passengers to Bartlett Cove, where they will board another Allen Marine vessel and head to Juneau.
