A team of volunteers scoured a wooded area off C Street Monday night for any trace of Letitia Baxter.
The 63-year-old Anchorage woman hasn’t been seen or heard from since August 3rd.
“It’s just mentally wearing,” said Baxter’s brother-in-law Bill Cross. Cross was the last person to see Baxter since she was reported missing. Baxter told her sister she was walking downtown to run some errands, but never returned to her boyfriend’s home in the 2300 block of Eagle Street.
"We want to get it done, we need to get it done, she needs to be found,” said APD search team member Howdy Rembur.
Rembur helped organize a team of 20 volunteers and five search dogs Monday that covered as much ground as they could before dark. The team covered an area from Goose Lake Park all the way to the inlet. An avid walker, Baxter used the trails in this area often.
"We find things; there's enough of us that know what we're doing,” said Rembur. “If we don't find it, it's not there."
Some closure and some answers would be better than nothing for Baxter’s family.
"I really believe she will be found or located, we hope soon” adds Cross. “We start everyday off with a prayer that she's going to be safe."
