Tex Daniels II admitted to driving drunk and hitting a young couple with his truck as they walked on a downtown sidewalk New Year's Eve after a concert.

On Thursday, Daniels was sentenced to 7 years. He was sentenced to 8 years with one suspended on the first-degree assault charge  and 72 hours for the DUI, along with 2 years of felony probation.

Ashley Brotherton and Clayton Wilbanks said they think Daniels should do out-reach programs and help other people. The two victims were in court but did not want to be on TV.

They also said they don't believe he'll ever drink and drive again. Daniels said he'd do anything to make the situation right.

Before the sentencing was read, both of the victims, Brotherton and Wilbanks, and Daniels, spoke to the judge.

Here is a sampling of what they had to say.
