ANCHORAGE, Alaska—
Alaska State Troopers have identified the man shot by three troopers last Thursday. Troopers say 53-year-old Palmer resident Vance Hopkins Barrett Jr. has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and three counts of third-degree assault.
Troopers responded to a call Thursday night for a suicidal man who had already sustained a gunshot wound. When troopers arrived, Barrett brandished a weapon and fired at them.
Three Troopers, Phillip “Nathan” Duce, David Eastwood-Koleszar and Joseph Hess all fired in return.
Barrett is still hospitalized while being treated for his injuries.
