PALMER, Alaska—
On Tuesday, Palmer voters passed Proposition 3 that would ban smoking in businesses and public places, according to unofficial results.
Numbers show that 61 percent of voters approved the ordinance with 452 yes votes to 283 no votes.
If the results stay, then smokers would have to light up at least 20 feet away.
Supporters of the bill say non-smokers have the right to avoid second hand smoke.
On the flip side, those opposed say if you don't like smoke, then don't come here.
If the ordinance is certified, then people who violate it could face a fine of up to $100.
