Steam Engine #557 made the journey from Whittier to Anchorage, Tuesday. The historic locomotive was the last regularly scheduled steam engine to run on the Alaska Railroad, which hopes to restore the machine and someday put it back into service.

Locomotive Restoration
On August 15, a semi-truck carried the Alaska Railroad Engine 557, a steam locomotive, from Anchorage to a railroad shop in Wasilla for restoration.
