The number of Alaskans who donated some of their Permanent Fund Dividends to charity doubled this year. Of the 641,000 people who registered for a PFD, 2 percent signed up to donate all or part of their check to the Pick, Click, Give program.

The total amount pledged by Alaskans this year came to $927,000, spread across more than 300 charities statewide.

Officials say the increase in donations is meeting their expectations.

“We're excited about the growth of the program,” said the Rasmuson Foundation’s Jordan Marshall. “But more important than that is the great works that Alaska non-profits are able to do when they get gifts from Alaskans that care about the outcomes, that care about the people that are served by the non-profits.”

Alaskans’ next opportunity to sign up for Pick, Click, Give and make donations will be in January, during the next PFD application period.
