A treat was made twice as sweet when people purchased an ice cream sundae from Tastee-Freez.

The jolly old man made a quick trip down from the North Pole to greet children at Sunday’s event, which donated to proceeds to The Salvation Army McKinnell house.

Santa has been helping out the fundraiser for over 10 years according to The Salvation Army.

The McKinnell house is Anchorage's only emergency shelter for two parent families who face the crisis of homelessness.

 “I just couldn't even imagine,” said Jenni Ragland, “You know I see the families who come in when I happen to be over there and you know they really are grateful."

The Salvation Army said this year they had the best attendance on record, with more than 100 kids taking pictures with Santa.
