The owner of a pull-tab parlor in Anchorage has been indicted for allegedly demanding bribes.
The Anchorage Daily News reported Thursday that Abraham Joseph Spicola, owner of the now-closed Lucky Times Pull Tabs, is facing numerous charges including theft, fraud and falsifying business records.
Spicola is accused of demanding bribes from organizations he was supposed to be raising money for and stealing tens of thousands of dollars from two organizations -- Alaska Bikers Advocating Training Education and Anchorage Community Theatre.
He is accused of failing to pay both groups for gaming proceeds raised under their permits.
The state also accuses Spicola -- who is a former state gaming investigator -- of stealing more than $4,000 in unemployment benefits while working full-time at Lucky Times.
Spicola’s pull-tab parlor came under fire in 2009 and 2010 for repeatedly delaying the drawing of a winner in the $500,000 Lucky Times Lotto, whose proceeds benefited Standing Together Against Rape.
