The House Ethics Committee says it is forming a special panel to investigate Representative Don Young.
The panel plans to investigate whether Representative Don Young broke house rules by failing to report gifts on his annual financial disclosure forms, and if he lied to federal officials.
Young’s ethics case was referred to the committee by the Justice Department.
The committee says the investigative subcommittees will determine whether young violated the house's code of conduct.
In its statement the committee says the establishment of the subcommittee does not indicate that any violation had occurred.
Rep. Don Young Press Secretary Mike Anderson released this statement Tuesday afternoon, "Congressman Young has cooperated with the committee and will continue to do so."
In 2011, the U.S. House Ethics Committee dismissed a complaint against Congressman Young about contributions to his legal defense fund.
