Fort Richardson said goodbye to a soldier who died in Afghanistan last week.
Private First Class Amy Renee Sinkler was killed when a rocket propelled grenade hit her vehicle. She was a gunner in a mine resistant ambush protected vehicle. Sinkler, originally from North Carolina, was assigned to the 109th Transportation Company.
Her fellow soldiers say she was a great person and will be missed.
Sergeant Alan Patterson, is the Team Leader for the 109th Transportation Company. He talked about the first time he met Sinkler.
"She was always singing so that was one of the first impressions. I was actually on a cq watching over the barracks that night when she came in and right off the bat I knew what her personality was cause she was singing then."
Sinkler had earned several military honors including a bronze star and purple heart. She was 23 years old.
