ANCHORAGE, Alaska—
Update: Seismologists revised the magnitude of the earthquake to 6.4 instead of 6.9 and the quake was about 21 miles south of Tanaga Volcano.A strong earthquake shook Wednesday afternoon 80 miles southwest of Adak, Alaska, according to a preliminary report by the Alaska Tsunami Warning Center.
Officials said a tsunami is not expected along the West Coast and no advisory is in effect and non-damaging sea level changes may be experienced in these areas.
The quake struck around 3:40 p.m. Alaska time in the Andreanof Islands region with a depth of 25.2 miles.
There were no initial reports of damage.
