A water main break inside Wendler Middle School Saturday, caused by a copper sealing ring breaking, flooded five rooms and a hallway.

If a janitor had not spotted the leak early on, however, Anchorage School District officials say it could have turned into a major problem.

Operation’s Director Darin Hargraves says some ceiling tiles and rugs were damaged.  The problems were repaired, however, after powerful fans were used to dry out the school.

Thanks to Monday’s President's Day Holiday, Hargraves says there should be no disruption of classes.
