Hastings Fire Update - Morning June 8 |
Wednesday, the weather is looking more favorable; it’s cloudy with an occasional drizzle, but still breezy, which could hamper firefighters’ efforts.
Officials say the fire advanced to the north, but has remained north of the Chatanika and south ofWashington Creek.
Fire fighters have 8 percent of the fire contained, and are focusing much of their efforts on the eastern side, which is closer to subdivisions and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline.
Ted Land contributed to this report from the Hastings Fire Headquarters near Fairbanks.
