The woman found dead Tuesday morning in a church parking lot “died as a result of a self-inflicted wounds,” according to the Anchorage Police Department.
Two neighbors found 44-year-old Marya Abramczyk at the parking lot of the Anchorage Unitarian Universalist Church parking lot at West 32nd Street and Turnagain Street.
The neighbors attempted to render aid to Abramczyk, but upon officers arrival, it was determined that "resuscitation efforts would be futile."
In APD’s initial release, police said "evidence at the scene indicated that foul play was involved in this death and it is currently being investigated as a homicide."
On Thursday, APD homicide unit detectives and the Alaska State Medical Examiner’s investigators determined her cause of death and ruled out murder.
