APD spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker says detectives are continuing to work with Reeves’ family and U.S. Air Force personnel in an investigation of Reeves’ disappearance.
A red 2012 Dodge Avenger rented by Reeves and containing his personal effects was found unlocked, and seized by police on April 27. It was near 309 McCarrey Street in East Anchorage. Police say the vehicle had been in the area since April 23, just a day after Reeves was last heard from. Police are asking anyone who saw the vehicle in that area, particularly on April 22 and 23, to contact them.
"Often, people know something, but they don't realize it has something to do with the investigation. So if there are folks out there who may have seen that Dodge Avenger in the Mountain View area, especially the 22nd, 23rd, that time frame, it would be very helpful if they would contact APD," spokesman Lt. Dave Parker said Tuesday afternoon.
"We don't know for sure at this point, whether or not he actually drove the car to that location, so it could've been someone totally different driving the vehicle then," Parker said.
Tuesday afternoon, police confirmed that an Alaska State Trooper helicopter seen in the area of Russian Jack Park, not far from where Reeves' rental vehicle was found, was involved in the search.
Reeves was last seen his duty station as a JBER fuel technician on April 19, and last heard from April 22. He has been listed as missing ever since he failed to report for duty on April 23.
Reeves’ parents have arrived in Anchorage to assist with the search, and James Koenig -- the father of slain barista Samantha Koenig -- has also offered his help.
Anyone with information on the vehicle or on Reeves is asked to call Anchorage Police at 786-8900 or CrimeStoppers at 561-STOP.
