ANCHORAGE, Alaska—
Despite the freezing temperatures, about 140 Mat-Su Valley residents decided to take the plunge Saturday at Lake Lucille.
The cool dip was all part of the 9th annual 2013 Mat-Su Plunge.
Everyone involved raised money earmarked for local non-profits around the Valley.
The Matanuska-Susitna Borough Emergency medical services were nearby to lend a warm helping hand.
Organizers say the event raised more than $1500 in online donations as of Saturday afternoon.
