HOLLAND, Michigan (AP) — Edna Doyle has had a number of adventures in her 84 years of life, including immigrating to the United States from Europe and visiting each of the seven continents.
Now she can add one more thing to the list: jumping — safely — from a plane.
With 50 friends and neighbors from the Freedom Village at Holland retirement community cheering her own, Doyle jumped and parachuted with an expert through Wish of a Lifetime and Brookdale Senior Living.
Her description: "In a word, exhilarating!"
Wish of a Lifetime was established in 2008. The partnership with Brookdale Senior Living was formed two years later. More than 250 senior citizens have had wishes granted.
Doyle was born and lived in Dublin, Ireland, according to Brookdale Senior Living.
She attended college in Switzerland before moving to the United States. Doyle worked as a physical therapist and at age 42 began attending medical school in New Orleans. She practiced as a physician until retiring at age 73.
Brookdale Senior Living serves more than 67,000 residents in 35 states.
