LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Reports filed with the Secretary of State say spending on six Michigan ballot initiatives for last month's vote is expected to top $150 million.
The Detroit Free Press says the reports filed by Thursday say at least $116.1 million was raised and $113.8 million spent by various committees backing proposed constitutional amendments and one initiative to repeal a state's emergency manager law.
All the constitutional amendments were defeated. Voters repealed the emergency manager law.
The newspaper reports that paperwork wasn't filed for the group called "The People Should Decide" that backed a ballot issue seeking to require voters to approve building any new border crossing to Canada.
Backed by Manuel "Matty" Moroun, private owner of the Ambassador Bridge, it earlier reported spending more than $33 million.
