Alaska State Troopers arrested a Seward man last week for possessing marijuana. According to an AST release, it happened on Mile 4 of the Seward Highway at 10:00 p.m. last Thursday.
36-year-old Wesley Sherrill of Seward was arrested as Troopers tried to pull him over in his motorcycle for a moving violation. The motorcycle initially pulled to the shoulder when signaled to stop but quickly accelerated and continued northbound.
Sherrill eventually stopped his motorcycle after a brief pursuit, and told the Trooper he had ran because he had just consumed a beer and did not want to receive another DUI. He also admitted to possessing drug paraphernalia.
An Investigation determined that Sherrill was not impaired by alcoholic beverages but did discover a small amount of a substance believed to be marijuana on his person.
Sherrill was arrested for Second Degree Fail to Stop at the Direction of a Police Officer and Sixth Degree Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance.
