Two people died in a Sutton residential fire early Friday, and a third man narrowly escaped, according to the Alaska State Troopers.
A 46-year-old woke up around 1 a.m. and opened his bedroom door to find the house filled with thick black smoke. He crawled to the front door and made it out.
He went to a neighbor's house where he called for help.
The cause and circumstances of the fire are unknown and are being investigated by the State Fire Marshal's Office.
The identities of the two people killed in the fire are pending positive identification and next-of-kin notification.
