2 People Injured in Early Morning Shooting
Anchorage police say 2 people transported to hospital after Saturday shooting
Police responded early Saturday morning to reports of a shooting on the 2600 block of Easthaven Circle, a residential neighborhood in midtown Anchorage.
Multiple people attending a party told police that what started as a small house party kept growing as the night wore on.
People were drinking alcohol, according to police.
Some attendees of the party were asked to leave around 4 a.m., when a man pulled out a gun and shot in the direction of the crowd.
"Lots of people were drinking," said APD spokesperson Jennifer Castro. "When you lose your judgment from being impaired, firearms don't always create a good mix."
Two people were shot.
Both victims were were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect has not been named by police, and no arrests have been made.
Residents described the area as quiet, with a lot of military families and college students living nearby.
"Nothing like this has happened here," said a resident who asked to remain anonymous. "It's kind of shocking."
