Brennan Henry pitched a complete game, four-hit shutout to lead the Anchorage Bucs to a 4-0 win over the Anchorage Glacier Pilots to open the annual Mayor's Cup series at Mulcahy Stadium. The Bucs, who haven't won the Mayor's Cup since 2005, can clinch the trophy with a win on Wednesday.
Henry struck out six in his victory, and was aided by four inning-ending double plays turned by his infield.
At the plate, Andy Crowley drove in two runs as the Bucs pounded out 12 hits.
The win also enables the Bucs to pull within one game of the ABL-leading Goldpanners, who lost to the Oilers, 3-2 in 11 innings. Mike Weiland singled home the winning run for Peninsula.
The Mat-Su Miners are even with the Panners atop the league after a 7-4 win over the Chinooks. Michael Thomas led Mat-Su with three hits and three runs batted in.
