Alaska Airlines has announced the release of their app on the Windows phone marketplace.

While many Alaskan smartphone owners debate whether iPhone or Android is better, one corner of the market was missing out on some of today's greatest apps, including the Alaska Airlines app.

"We're committed to making Alaska Airlines the easiest airline to fly and our newest app gives our customers mobile tools that make travel easy and fun," said Curtis Kopf, Alaska Airlines' vice president of customer innovation, in a release Thursday. "Microsoft is a great Seattle neighbor and it's been great to collaborate with them in creating this app for our customers."

The app allows users to book a trip, check in before leaving home, and track flights. Users can also manage their Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan, and even pick their seat on a flight. TSA Pre-Check is also accessible through the app.

Another unique feature for users to enjoy is the ability to pin their boarding pass directly onto their home screen, allowing them to move quickly through security and flight lines.

The Alaska Airlines app is one of many only  recently made available for Windows phone users, including several domestic and international airlines. All carrier-supported flight apps are free for users on all smartphone and tablet platforms.
