ANCHORAGE, Alaska -

Anchorage police are investigating a shooting Sunday night at a Midtown motel that left a male victim dead.

APD spokesperson Jennifer Castro says that it’s not yet clear whether the shooting, which police responded to at the Motel 6 at 5000 A St. at about 10:15 p.m. Sunday, is a suicide, homicide or accidental shooting.

Anita Shell, another APD spokesperson, says an employee reported the shooting, which occurred in a room at the motel. No further details were immediately available on the circumstances of the incident.

“We’re still interviewing folks,” Shell said. “At this time we’re waiting for investigators to complete their interviews with witnesses.”

Castro didn’t immediately have information on whether police were seeking a suspect in the shooting, or whether there was one.
